GOVERNOR WANGAMATI STARTS DISTRIBUTION OF FREE MASKS IN BUNGOMA

Bungoma County today started distribution of free masks to residents. Some 15,000 masks were handed to Boda Bodas, mama Mboga, and police officers.
The move is part of Governor Wangamati’s initiatives to ensure as many people as possible in the County protect themselves from the novel Covid-19.
The face masks were MADE IN BUNGOMA , by students and staff of Wekelekha Vocational training center, which is one of the ten centers of excellence in vocational training, set up by Governor Wangamati.
The centre will be producing 20 thousand face masks per week, with materials sourced from Rivatex Eldoret.
This is part of the interventions put in place by Bungoma County government to fight spread of Covid19.
Other measures in place include :
#Setting up of an Isolation ward in Webuye hospital.
#Distribution of Water tanks for hand washing on markets.
368 tanks that were donated by well-wishers.
#Fumigation of public places at night.
#Screening of all travellers entering Bungoma County at four border points (Watoya, Mwomo, Maliki and Webuye)
The Governor also said he is working on modalities to get food donations for vulnerable families.
