Governor Wycliffe Wangamati has every intention to support the BBI proposals for constitution amendments if they will have matters devolution at heart. Speaking in Kabuchai during Mashujaa Day celebrations today, Wangamati stated that the road to prosperity for the people of Kenya and Bungoma too, depended only on the creation of an inclusive government that listens and involves all communities in its operations and also supported devolved units wholly. ‘ I want to assure the proponents of BBI that they stand to get our support as the Ford Kenya Party if they will see to it that devolved funds are increased to already 45% so that development can be achieved at the grassroots’ ‘ he said.
Governor Wangamati assured those present also of advanced plans to build Chwele market, which happens to be second largest open air market in East Africa after Karatina, to a standard facility which will be able to offer all traders better working conditions for business to thrive. He urged members of the public to come out and participate in Public Participation that will help Chwele town achieve municipality status.
The Governor was accompanied by the County Commissioner Mr Wilson Kihara and other leaders from the national government, Deputy Governor Prof. Charles Ngome, County Secretary Mr. Wambati amd other county officers, Honourable Members of Parliament led by Host MP Hon James Mukwe, MCAs and local leaders.
